As cliché as it may sound, my husband and I are a perfect pair. We are total opposites but somehow we balance each other out.
He is incredibly loud. I’m quiet.
He likes to be center of attention. I’m shy.
I’m always on time. He’s always late.
I like to try new things. He’s content with what he knows.
Although we are opposites, we work perfectly together.
When it comes to food, I’m pretty adventurous. I’ll usually try anything at least once. I love food, my husband loves food, we just love different kinds of food. He likes comfort foods, and I like all foods. I’ve been working on him for almost 12 years, to branch out and try something different, and it’s working. I finally got the guy to eat broccolini. He doesn’t do green food y’all, so this is a huge victory for me.
We went on a date night this past weekend to P.F. Chang’s. Neither of us had ever been there before. While I was incredibly excited, he was hesitantly excited. Remember, he’s not a fan of trying new things. Thankfully, he’s a good sport and took one for the team.
We started off our date night dinner with two different appetizers because I couldn’t pass up the Heirloom Tomato Salad on the seasonal summer menu and the Crispy Green Beans just sounded too good not to try.
Both appetizers were absolutely delicious and were a good serving size for two people. Having both for two people was a little much. Normally we would only get one appetizer, but we decided since it was our first visit that two was acceptable. The heirloom tomatoes were served with avocado, thai basil and a zesty ponzu dressing. It was so fresh and tasty. Just thinking about it makes my stomach growl. Maybe I’ll go pick some up for lunch? The green beans were lightly breaded with a tempura batter and served with a zesty dipping sauce. You really can’t go wrong with either of these. Both were incredible.
For dinner I had the Seared Ahi with Wasabi Guacamole (from the seasonal summer menu) and my husband had the Cantonese Lemon Chicken.
Both dishes were as wonderful as they look. Full of flavor and absolutely delicious.
I had a bite of my husband’s chicken and I loved the light breading on the chicken. The brocollini is served cold, which my husband was not a fan of, but the taste was incredible. It had a peanut sauce drizzled over it which escalated the flavor. The Ahi was perfectly cooked, with just a slight sear on the outside. I didn’t taste any wasabi in the guacamole, but would have liked that because I’ve never tried that before. I’m a fan of wasabi and guacamole, so pairing them together just seems right.
Overall we had a wonderful experience at P.F. Chang’s and will definitely be making plans to return soon. We sat outside (which is sometimes impossible to do in Texas because of the heat) and enjoyed people watching and catching up with each other. Life has been busy lately so our time together, just focusing on us has been very limited. It was a nice treat to sit and talk without hearing “mommy” or “daddy” from the littles.

All of those dishes look delicious. I had a hard time getting my man to eat new foods too. I finally got him to eat mushrooms and now he loves them!

We just went to P.F. Chang’s for the first time last week. I’m so glad we discovered it because it was delicious. My husband is not at all an adventurous food eater either, but he tried the Asian Carnita Baos and he loved them! (Score one for me!! 🙂 ).

Whenever I go to a P.F. Chang’s I alway think…why don’t I come here more often? While there isn’t one incredible close to me, the new menu surely is tempting. The Heirloom salad look right up my alley

One more reason to wish I had a P.F. Changs closer. That Heirloom salad looks so fantastic! When I hit the city with my mom we always make a stop at P.F. Changs for their lettuce wraps, can’t wait to try the new menu pairings.

I think it’s great when couples have such differences, it creates balance. My boyfriend and I are very different, so I joke that together we’re like a whole person. Love the P.F. Chang’s pairing!

My husband and I definitely compliment each other well and it has been far too long since we last ate at PF Changs. I really love their lettuce wraps!
