Today’s post is sponsored by Sam’s Club, but my love for tailgating and football season is all my own!
Do you want to know my favorite thing about football? The snacks. Coincidentally, snacks are also my favorite thing about baseball, soccer, and auto races. I’m not the biggest sports fan, I admit. So when my husband suggests attending or watching a game on television, I need a detailed list of what I’ll be eating.
When we got married, the only sport my husband watched regularly was soccer. After a year of being married, he picked up baseball. Year 2, basketball. I drew the line when I walked into the living room and he was watching collegiate women’s bowling in Year 3. Really? I mean, bowling is fun. But watching it on television?
Now that football season has commenced, so has tailgating! And tailgating is something we can both agree on. However, my husband’s tailgating essentials are way different than mine. Whether you’re at home or in the stadium parking lot, tailgating is a fun way to get together and cheer on your team. But big crowds can mean a big expense if you’re not shopping smart.
Shopping at Sam’s Club means that we can get everything we need to host a fun and yummy tailgating party. And with the savings and selection, you’ll be able to host your friends and family Sunday after Sunday.
His & Hers Tailgating Essentials
His Tailgating List:
- Samsung 65” TV – If you can’t make it to the game, you’re going to need a television that will make it feel like you’re there. Sometimes bigger really is better, so the 65 inches of viewing pleasure will let you see every fumble and every victory dance.
- Portable Stainless Steel Gas Grill – With a grill that is easy to transport and 272 square inches of cook space, you’ll be grilling up brats or dogs for everyone.
- Samsung Tab S Tablet – Today’s sports fan is connected. Sure they have instant replays on television, but using the Samsung tablet you can check stats, research players, or check in with your fantasy football league.
Her Tailgating List:
- Wolfgang Puck 10-cup Digital Multicooker – This snacker loves company. Using the Wolfgang Puck Multicooker, you can prepare meatballs, bean dip, or whatever else is on your menu. Plus, it serves as a great buffet server so food will stay warm even after half-time.
- Hidden Valley Ranch – Most of the tailgating foods we love are heavy and full of carbs. I like to mix it up and serve a veggie platter with Hidden Valley Ranch for dipping.
- Skittles Original Flavor 54 oz bag – He likes salty snacks, but I’m all about sugar. I passed that along to my Skittle-loving children. To keep us engaged throughout the game, we need some yummy candy.
Whether you’re shopping online or at your local Sam’s Club, you’re going to find everything you need to make your tailgating a success. What’s on your tailgating shopping list?

Definitely popcorn, flavored sparkling water and a book because I don’t watch sports unless it’s baseball LOL

For me, it is all about salty snacks and a great craft beer (or 3)! Plus some cute team apparel!

Nachos are a big hit here too! We love them!

Those are some great essentials. I know I always have to have some hidden valley ranch to make some potato salad with.

I love popcorn… all the time… we eat so much of it!

I love this! Especially the Skittles – a must!

I’d say that the hers tailgating list would be good even for those who don’t tailgate! I mean, everybody needs a Crockpot and candy don’t they? 😉
Elizabeth Ferree says
haha so true I love this one. I’ve seen so many of the tailgating ones lately but this one hits the mark. I think any sports related party the guys are all about the television, surround sound and grills while the ladies are about the crockpot, drinks and snacks.

For me, I would need a tablet as a tailgating essential too, since I am totally not a fan of football. I like the tailgating environment, but I would need to watch a movie while everyone else watch the game lol.

We are not a tailgating family… My hubby is an avid cyclist and as a family we are more into soccer.. I grew up in France so never really had the tailgaiting experience until I came for college.. definitely a lot of fun and I would say a grill and slow cooker would be good tail gaiting essentials.
Ellen Christian says
Nachos and pizza are generally high on my list. I try to add in a veggie platter & dip too.
Kecia says
I certainly wouldn’t mind having that large 65 inch Samsung TV to watch the game on!

I love how you sorted this into his and hers. My slow cooker would definitely be on my list.

A good grill should be on everyone’s tailgating list. I love these options.
Angela says
This is a great list of tailgating essentials. I’d love to have that digital multicooker.
Marcie W. says
I happen to love football as much, if not more, than most men, so my tailgating list includes a some good beer, easy ready to eat snacks (because neither of us want to cook while watching the games) and a reliable smart phone to check Fantasy Football stats while not having to walk away from the TV!
