During my recent visit to the Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas, I learned about many of the 60 Best Kept Secrets in Myrtle Beach. While I was there, I had the opportunity to visit some of the local dining establishments and experienced everything from Italian to French Fusion. There isn’t a lack of dining options, but these are four you must try.
Villa Romana: Since it’s opening in 1985, this quaint little restaurant has been dedicated to offering one of the most interesting Italian menus in Myrtle Beach. Entrees are made with care and fresh ingredients, and are always prepared from scratch. Secret: Be serenaded by an accordion while you dine.
The low lighting in the restaurant made it quite difficult to get good pictures, but don’t let the poor quality of the pictures discourage you from going. The food was phenomenal and the entertainment from the accordion player was playful and humorous.
The Brentwood Restaurant: During a vacation to Myrtle Beach, Cheff Masson and his wife discovered the restaurant, fell in love and took over the business in August of 2007. The Chef’s approach to food is creative yet simple, with a strong emphasis on using local and fresh quality ingredients. Secret: The restaurant offers a French Carolina Coastal Cooking class.
This haunted house turned restaurant offers a delectable menu featuring only the freshest ingredients. The food is flavorful, elegantly plated and a beautiful fusion of French and Southern Cuisine.
Gulf Stream Cafe: This lovely restaurant which sits right on the water is the only restaurant on the Strand that overlooks the ocean on one side and the Murrells Inlet on the other side. With offerings such as She-Crab Soup, Crab Cakes and Fried Lobster Tail, there is bound to be something on the menu for everyone. Secret: This restaurant has been voted “best restaurant with a view” and “most romantic” by The Sun News. It offers the best view of both the sunrise and the sunset.
Literally only minutes from the gorgeous beach house we stayed at, this restaurant offers an appetizing menu, friendly waitstaff and a view that can’t be beat. The food was absolutely amazing and when I go back to Myrtle Beach, I’ll definitely be returning.
Sea Captain’s House: There isn’t a lack of Seafood restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area, but Sea Captain’s House has to be one of the best. When we arrived on a Thursday night, the wait would have been an hour and a half. The restaurant has been awarded numerous awards such as “best of the beach” and “best seafood restaurant.” In addition to seafood offerings, they also serve non-seafood choices as well. Secret: The complimentary hushpuppies are absolutely delicious.
You will not leave this restaurant hungry. The serving sizes are huge, the endless hushpuppies are to die for and the view of the ocean is spectacular. The waitstaff was friendly and the food delicious. It doesn’t get any better than that.
If you are visiting the Myrtle Beach area and are looking for dining recommendations, these four restaurants are a must visit, especially if you are looking for good food and a fun atmosphere.
