Need to get away? The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch is a wonderful place to stay with activities the entire family can enjoy.
When I’m planning family vacations, one of the most important features I look for in choosing locations is the amount of family friendly activities the facility offers and those in the surrounding area.
A few girlfriends and I visited the Scottsdale, Arizona area a couple of weeks ago and while it was supposed to be a girls weekend, I couldn’t help but do some scouting for future family vacations…and I found the perfect location in one of the resorts who hosted our stay, Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch.
Isn’t it beautiful?
This luxury resort offers views of the lakes and pools from the patios or balconies of the guestrooms. If you’re a golfer you can enjoy 27-holes of championship golf at the on-site golf course or if you are a foodie like me, you can dine while gazing at the majestic McDowell Mountains from the open-air lobby restaurant and bar.
The Hyatt also offers a 24 hour self-service Business Center. In an effort to make traveling as convenient as possible, you can also take advantage of Hyatt FastBoard and PDA check-in.
The resort offers 493 guestrooms, suites and private casitas. The guestrooms are newly remodeled, spacious, inviting and tastefully appointed. There was plenty of room to move around freely and the dedicated desk area made it easy to have a work area when needed. Wifi is available and is included in the price of your room. The bathroom was spacious as well, and beautifully designed, but there was no room for a bathtub. The shower is larger than most and the rainfall shower head was a welcome treat in the mornings.
The balcony was a nice surprise and had I been traveling with my husband, I could see it being used much more. It is a shared balcony with the room next door, although there is a small divider between the two spaces. It’s definitely not private by any means, but a nice place to just relax and unwind from the day.
The grounds are absolutely magnificent. The landscaping is so beautifully done and the rows of palm trees are absolutely exquisite. There are semi-private seating areas throughout the resort that I absolutely fell in love with. If I would have had more time, it would have been spent in one of those enjoying a good book.
Since this was a girlfriend getaway, we spent much of our time at the pool and at the spa. The pool and water playground area has been newly renovated and it truly was a highlight of my stay. The pool area is divided into sections and includes an adult only area if you are traveling without children.
If you are traveling with your children, be prepared to spend all day at the pool. Between the new water slide and beach, your children will probably not want to leave. And while your children are enjoying themselves in the water, you can enjoy yourself in a cabana complete with loungers, couch and television.
I’m definitely looking forward to a family vacation here. I would totally be fine simply staying at the resort and enjoying the on-site amenities. Between the pool, spa, restaurants, live entertainment, and golf, I don’t see any reason to have to leave.
