Find out more about trick or treating at the Disneyland Resort!
I was asked not long ago if Disneyland was still special for our family even though we are Annual Passholders. Heck, yes! Each visit to the resort is different and each is full of magic. Being able to visit the resort during Halloween Time was certainly a fantastic night.
You can check out all of the festivities in my previous posts, but I wanted to share with you my family’s favorite parts of Mickey’s Halloween Party:
Treat Trails…aka Candy!
Trick or Treating at the Disneyland Resort
I’ll be honest…I love candy. I have passed this appreciation for all things sugar to my children. So it’s no surprise that one of our favorite elements of Mickey’s Halloween Party was the Treat Trails. The basic premise is you get in a short line (we waited less than 10 minutes in each) and stop at multiple locations to be loaded down with treats.
I emptied the bags of candy into a larger bowl when I got home. This is the bounty we end up with. Keep in mind that we only went to three of the Trick or Treating locations.
We were thrilled when snaking through Innovations to find Perry the Platypus, the secret agent from Phineas and Ferb, along the trail.
Even though I have a mouth full of sweet teeth, I do value my family eating healthy snacks. Pretzel goldfish, Cheeze-its, Craisins, or freeze-dried apples were available at each station. My husband asked for these items specifically. I know, I love him anyway.
Fun for the Entire Family
When we go Trick or Treating on Halloween, we will follow behind our frolicking children and wait at each house. The entertainment for us as parents is to see the joy on their faces. But is it fun for parents? Mickey’s Halloween Party wasn’t your regular Trick or Treating experience. We were given treat bags and received treats right along side our kiddos.
This is what I imagine Walt Disney envisioned when he created Disneyland, but in a Halloween setting. We celebrated with our children and are able to be equally engaged in the activities.
At one point in the evening, we sat down for a candy break. Matt and I didn’t have to sort through the girls’ bags to check for dangerous or unsafe candy. We didn’t have any worries about the safety of our children at any point during the event. As parents, to know that they would have an age-appropriate and sheltered experience was priceless.
Holiday Attractions
When you consider all of the holiday offerings at the resort, there is just too much for one visit. The Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy are essential!
Harper wasn’t able to make it all the way until fireworks, so I got to enjoy the Halloween Screams with Georgia. Even though we watch the fireworks from our backyard on regular nights, it was so much more magical to be able to hear the soundtrack and see Zero fly through the night sky.
Being able to experience to Mickey’s Halloween Party together was an experience we surely won’t forget! I hope you and your family will be able to make memories of your own this Halloween Time.
Have you experienced trick or treating at the Disneyland Resort?
Angela says
No matter how much you visit Disney, it’s always an amazing experience. I bet Trick or Treating there is a blast!
Melanie says
It was so much fun! Way better than traditional trick or treating!
Carolyn says
So excited to go tonight! Thanks for the candy tips!!
Melanie says
Hope you have a wonderful time!
Penelope (NYC Blogger) says
What a fun time! Those are the cutest little Disney princesses ever, and everything looked magnificent and so fun!
Melanie says
Disney does each holiday and season so wonderfully. It’s easy for princesses and parents alike to get immersed in the fun!

I am sad that we will miss it this year.
Melanie says
Bummer! Maybe next year!
Julia says
How fun! Hope that my family can have this super fun evening sometime soon! And I hope i will look as cute as she did in my Snow White costume!!
Melanie says
I’m sure you’ll be a great Snow White! She’s my favorite. 🙂
Benedict Wholocked says
I love this! I used to go as I was a kid and LOVED it! Definitely not as scary as Knott’s Scary Farm so perfect for the kids(:
Carolyn says
I’m so excited to go tonight?! Do most of the adults dress up? My husband and I have our back up McDonald’s costumes, a big mac and fries, ready to go just in case!
Carolyn says
Our costumes were a hit! And i loved that the grown ups got in on the action. If I were going again I would try and get out of work early and go as early as possible…my little dudes were melting down and sleepy by 9 and we wanted to keep partying!
Melanie says
We had a similar experience with our younger daughter. She was sleepy by the end, but taking a candy break perked her right up. Glad you dressed up! Next year, let’s meet up and I’ll be a milkshake.
HilLesha says
I have never been to Disneyland or Disney World for that matter, but they’re certainly two places that I’d love to visit someday with my family. 🙂
Melanie says
I never take for granted how fortunate we are to live so close to the Disneyland Resort. I’ve never been to Disney World, but I’m dying to go! Hope you can make it there, too.
Andrea Zahlis says
Halloween needs to be longer that one evening, with activities squished in between school and bedtime. So glad Disney provides a safe, festive environment to stretch the festivities. Glad you all had fun!!
Jenn says
What adorable little trick or treaters! I’ve experienced Halloween at Disney World but not Disneyland.
Melanie says
I’m sure they have similarities, but it’d be fun to be able to experience both for sure.
Jenn @TheRebelChick says
We used to take my daughter to Not so Scary Halloween at Disney World and we always had so much fun! It looks like Disneyland is just as great!
Melanie says
I appreciate that there is a not so scary option for us! I’d love to go to the event at Disney World.
Donna says
What gorgeous princesses! My son would love to trick or treat at Disneyland!
Melanie says
Thank you! They need a Prince Charming if your son’s interested.
Tammy says
We were at Disneyworld one year at Halloween, but didn’t get a chance to attend the party 🙁
Melanie says
It’s still a great place to be during the holidays.
Marcie W. says
That is a ton of loot for only a few candy stations and your girls just looked adorable! I sure love Disney.
Melanie says
Me too, Marcie! Love, love, love!
Liz @ A Nut in a Nutshell says
That was darn convincing, gotta say. It looks like a blast! Also, I can’t believe you got that haul from just three locations. Whoa.
Melanie says
Thank goodness my husband also made sure there were other snacks because we would have turned into walking chocolate bars.
Mickey says
I can’t even imagine what a cool experience that would be for kids! Disneyland, dressing up AND trick-or-treating all at once. I hope to be able to take my kids to Disney someday. 🙂
Melanie says
You know what’s funny? As often as we go to Disneyland, our kids never go dressed up. They were over the moon about dressing like princesses. All of the holiday fun made it even better!
Shell Feis says
I’m so jealous! It looks like so much fun. We’re totally going next year.
Melanie says
I hope you do! It’s such a great event!
Melanie says
Oh my kids would LOVE trick or treating in Disney!!!
Melanie says
Mine certainly did. 🙂
Toni says
Wow you got a ton of candy. Imagine if you went to all of them.

I can’t! I don’t want to admit how much of it I ate myself. 🙁
Stefanie says
We do MNSSHP at Disney World every year, it looks very similar.
Tiff @ Babes and Kids says

The fireworks are always spectacular, especially when you are watching them explode over the castle. Brings back so many happy childhood memories. 🙂

Sheri says
I haven’t done Halloween at Disneyland, but I’ve been to Disney World during October and love the decorations. Disney is awesome!
Colleen says
I love how the theme parks decorate for the holiday. I was thinking of visiting during Christmas (Disney World for us)
Melanie says
Don’t you wish they’d send a holiday designer home with you? Everything is so spectacular.
Leilani says
I made my husband promise that we could go to Disneyland next Halloween. He said yes. The only reason we’re not going this year is because he doesn’t wanna go with an infant.
Melanie says
Have fun! Make sure you get awesome family costumes! I wish I had.
Paula @ Frosted Fingers says
I’ve only ever been to Disney World but someday hope to visit Disneyland. Looks like such a great day! You have enough candy there to pass out to all the trick or treat-ers at your house on Halloween! 🙂
Melanie says
I wish there were still a noticeable amount left! I put the candy bowl on top of the fridge, but I can still reach it.
Ty @ Mama of 3 Munchkins says
I’ve been wanting to go to Disneyland every since I was a little girl, it’s my dream vacation. I’ve came close a few times but something always came up (just my luck, right?). But, we;’re thinking of going next year as we’d like to take the kiddies while they’re still young. Looks like your family had an amazing time and thanks for sharing your adventure. It’s always fun to seeing fun times at Disneyland.
Melanie says
I hope you can make it! It’s such a great memory for the entire family. 🙂
Robin Gagnon {Mom Foodie} says
