As I mentioned in my post last week teaching you how to draw Mr. Peabody, while I was in LA with DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox I had the opportunity to see the film before release date. One of the things that really stuck out to me while watching the film was the all the different locations the characters traveled to. So with that in mind, I wanted to take you on a trip back in time with Mr. Peabody and Sherman.
Mr. Peabody & Sherman, made famous during The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show, travel throughout history using the WABAC (pronounced “wayback”) Machine. This machine gives them the opportunity to explore and discover the importance of historical events. During their travels, they visit iconic locations and talk to some of the world’s most famous people.
The film is based in current day New York City. The father and son duo live in a penthouse suite overlooking downtown New York. As the movie progresses, you are thrown back in time, and visit France during the French Revolution. If you aren’t craving something sweet by the end of this scene, you have much more willpower than I do.
When Penny (Sherman’s schoolmate) and Sherman get into a fight, Mr. Peabody invites her and her family over for dinner to try and smooth things over. Unbeknownst to Mr. Peabody, Sherman shows Penny the WABAC Machine — and as you probably guessed, the two are off for an adventure to Ancient Egypt. Ariel Winter, who is the voice of Penny, says Ancient Egypt was her favorite destination because she “was engaged and that was pretty fun.”
On a visit to Florence, Italy to visit the one and only Leonard Da Vinci, the kids find themselves in an uncomfortable predicament when they are all alone, on a plane, with neither one of them having the slightest clue on how to land safely back on the ground.
And when they find themselves in the middle of the Trojan War, they must suit up and fight!
During a recent interview with both Max Charles and Ariel Winter, when asked “If you guys could have one scene, where would you go back in time or the future?” Both chose the “future.” Maybe we will see them take a trip to the future in a sequel?
The adventures these three find themselves on are fun, exciting and full of laughs. I really enjoyed watching the movie and appreciate that it’s a wholesome family film the whole family can sit down and enjoy.

At first I wasn’t sure about this movie, but then we watched the behind the scenes “ad” on Netflix hosted by Patrick Warburton. I had no idea that Mr. Peabody and Sherman was created by the same guy who did Rocky & Bullwinkle. Now my kids want to see this. Can’t wait til it opens.
