Edible Gold Oreos for St. Patrick’s Day
I stumbled upon Wilton Color Mist while I was at Michael’s one day looking at all the decorating supplies. I’d never used it before so I picked up a couple cans and was impressed at the shimmer the gold food color spray gave to homemade icing.
It gave me the idea for Edible Gold Oreos for St. Patrick’s Day! But you can use it for so much more. Let your imagination be your guide and see what you come up with.

I don’t even like calling this a recipe because there really isn’t a recipe to make these Edible Gold Oreos. But for the sake of keeping everything uniform and orderly, I’m going to call it a recipe though.

When you’re making these Edible Gold Oreos, make sure you line your surface with something to protect it. I’ve used parchment paper and wax paper and both worked well. If you have brown paper bags, that could work too.
Make sure when you’re spraying to hold the can at a 45 degree angle and spray at least 6 inches away from the cookies. I like to spray in spurts so that I get a more even spray. But do what works best for you.
I usually only do one coat (the photos are using one coat), but if you need a more gold appearance, allow each coat to dry before applying another coat.
One can of Wilton Color Mist should make about 48 cookies, depending on how heavy you spray and how many coats you use. I do not recommend spraying the lighter Oreos as it doesn’t have that much of a contrast and they don’t really look gold.

I do not recommend spraying the lighter Oreos as it doesn't have that much of a contrast and they don't really look gold. The dark background does much better.
