If you struggle with acne on your face or your back, try this 3-ingredient Tea Tree Acne Scrub.
Since early on in my life I’ve had to battle acne. Over the years I’ve learned what my skin likes and what it doesn’t like. I’ve always been very careful to try to keep my skin happy.
Happy skin = less breakouts.
For many years everything I read said that if you had acne not to use a facial scrub. So I didn’t. I wanted to get rid of the acne and not add to it.
But then, new studies started coming out saying that it was okay to use a gentle exfoliant on your face once or twice a week. So I did.
When I started using a gentle scrub on my face, I noticed a huge difference in the severity of my outbreaks. And there’s good reason why too.
Exfoliating your face once or twice a week with a gentle exfoliant helps to prevent clogging in the pores, therefore helping to prevent breakouts.
Note: Even if you don’t suffer with acne, it’s a great idea to exfoliate anyway.
Tea Tree Acne Scrub
This Tea Tree Acne Scrub is made with just 3 ingredients. It’s not the amount of the ingredients that matter. It’s the ingredients used and the quality of those ingredients.
The ingredients in this Tea Tree Acne Scrub are all specific to acne-prone skin. They all serve a specific purpose and when you add them all together, helps prevent future acne outbreaks.
Tea Tree Acne Scrub Recipe
As I mentioned, you’ll only need 3 ingredients for this acne scrub recipe. When buying your supplies, make sure you are buying a high-quality product, because with this scrub, ingredients do matter.
- 1/3 cup sea salt
- 8 drops Tea Tree oil
- raw, organic honey
I’m not trying to sell you anything here, but please research oils before just buying any random brand. I use Young Living oils and recommend those, but I know they’re not the only safe oil brand to use. Just do your research before buying to make sure you’re buying a pure oil.
Why These Ingredients?
In this recipe sea salt is used as a gentle exfoliant to help unclog the pores and buff away any dead skin cells on the face. As with any exfoliating product, make sure you don’t scrub too hard. Gentle, circular motions work really well.
I’ve been using Tea Tree oil as a spot treatment on my acne for years. Tea tree oil is derived from the leaves of the tea tree, not to be confused with the tea plant used to make tea to drink. Tea tree oil has anti-microbial properties that help keep the skin clear.
I use honey because it is a natural humectant, which means it moisturizes the top layers of the skin. It also soothes dry, irritated, and sensitive areas. It’s also known to have anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.

In a small bowl, pour in the sea salt and 8 drops of tea tree oil. Stir with a fork or spoon.
Then, add in the honey and stir to incorporate. Start with about a tablespoon and then add in little increments until you get the desired consistency that is easily spreadable.
Use your fingers to get a small amount of scrub, and then massage onto your face gently and wash off with warm water.
I love the way this Tea Tree Acne Scrub makes my skin feel. I’ve been known to use it all over my body, but I usually just stick to my face, shoulders, and back.
Tea Tree oil has a very distinct, strong scent that can be a little overwhelming at times. Don’t use more than you have to in this acne scrub. I use 8 drops, but you could probably get by with less. Just experiment so you can see how strong you like it.
