I could honestly eat avocados at each meal. That’s how much I adore avocados. But that’s not necessarily true for the other members of my family. I have to be creative and find ways that they can enjoy avocados just as much as I do.
And these Healthy Baked Avocado Fries are just perfect for that!
Baked Avocado Fries
Usually when one thinks of fries, they might think of thinly sliced potatoes thrown into oil and fried until golden brown. Don’t get me wrong, I love those kind of fries. Like seriously love!
But, they’re not that great for you. As I’m nearing my 40s, I have to be diligent about what I’m eating to ensure I keep my body healthy as I grow older.
Baked Avocado Fries are slices of avocado, dipped in flour, dipped in egg wash, dipped in panko breadcrumbs, and then baked to a crispy, golden brown in the oven. While you could absolutely fry these in some oil, avocado fries baked, instead of fried, are better for you.
These Baked Avocado Fries are absolutely delicious. If you’ve never tried avocado before, this is the perfect way to try them. They’re crispy on the outside and buttery soft on the inside. Pair with a tangy or spicy dipping sauce and you’ll understand why we like these so much.
Baked Avocado Fries Ingredients
- 2 avocados, sliced
- juice of 1/2 lime
- salt & pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 egg lightly beaten
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 – 2 tablespoons oil
- cooking spray
I usually buy the large avocados from the grocery but if you can’t find those the regular ones will work too.
If you don’t have a lime on hand but everything else to make these Baked Avocado Fries, you can skip it. I use it mainly to help keep the avocado from browning. Plus it helps the salt and pepper stick to the avocado a little bit better.

I think you’ll be surprised by how easy it is to make these Baked Avocado Fries.
To start, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. While the oven is heating up, you’ll need to pour a tablespoon or two of oil onto the baking sheet or baking dish you plan on using. Make sure the oil is spread evenly so that the avocado fries do not stick and then set aside while you’re prepping the avocados.
Slice the avocados if they aren’t sliced already. I usually get 8 slices per avocado but you could make smaller slices to get more. Squeeze the fresh lime juice over the avocado slices to help them from turning brown. Then sprinkle the salt and pepper over the tops of the avocado slices. Dip each avocado slice into the flour, followed by the egg, and lastly into the panko brandcrumbs. Make sure that you coat the avocados well in each step, but more importantly in the panko – that’s where the crispiness comes from.
Place each avocado slice in a single layer on the prepared sheet pan. Spray the cooking spray on the avocado slices. This will help the panko breadcrumbs crisp in the oven.
Bake for about 15 minutes or until the avocados are golden brown and crispy.
Tip: If you like your Baked Avocado Fries extra crispy, more cooking spray can be used while they are baking for additional crispness.
Serve with a tangy or spicy dipping sauce and enjoy!
