The Littlest Pet Shop: Little Pets, Big Adventures DVD Review

My husband is outside mowing the lawn, and the girls and I are watching The Littlest Pet Shop: Little Pets, Big Adventures on DVD. Doesn’t seem quite fair, but that’s life!

Walk down the aisles of your local toy store and you’ll be sure to find the Littlest Pet Shop line. These adorable wide-eyed figures are offered in a variety of species, and come with all sorts of different accessories.  Since we adore the pint-sized pups and their pals, watching their adventures on tv was a perfect fit.

The Little Pets, Big Adventures DVD features multiple episodes, including “Blythe’s Big Adventure-Parts 1 & 2″ which sets the premise for the television series. Blythe Baxter and her dad move into an apartment above the Littlest Pet Shop, which is on the verge of closing its doors.  A fall down the dumb waiter in her home lands Blythe in the shop and gives her the ability to communicate with the animals.  The animals depend on Blythe to help save the pet shop.  They couldn’t end up in the town’s competing pet shop (it’s squeaky toys have no squeakers!!!!).

Blythe, the lead character, really appealed to my older daughter Georgia who shares her love of fashion design.  I was happy that Blythe was sweet to her dad, was willing to help the animals in trouble, and annoyed by the valley girl twins at school.  There are so many bratty pre-teens on tv, and I’m thrilled to stay away from that model as much as possible.

Each episode showcases the big personalities of the occupants of the pet day camp.  You’ll adore Zoe, the beret-wearing pooch, who often breaks into song.  The poppy songs and dance sequences are a fun addition.  You’ll also see an uptight skunk, a gecko, and even a mongoose!   The theme song tells its viewers of the importance of being yourself, a concept the show develops with the different character traits of the individual pets.

You can watch the Littlest Pet Shop on the Hub tv channel Saturday mornings 11:30 A.M. ET/8:30 A.M. PT.  If you don’t have the Hub, check out this sweet collection of episodes when they become available on DVD.

Sad to admit, but I don’t even know if I get that channel! I am so detached from tv (the internet is my addiction). I need to look into now that my girls are hooked.

My daughter loved LPS for the longest time. She still has many of her little pets hanging around the house. They are really cute!

They are adorable! My younger daughter loves anything tiny (baby doggie, baby unicorns, etc) so these totally appeal to her. The DVD totally sparked her imagination when playing with her toys.

    The characters are adorable!

They are! The main character is super sweet. It’s a nice touch that her outfits change each episode considering that she’s a fashion designer. All the animals are adorable too. I’m currently loving the girly panda. :)

I loved tv shows on DVD. You can just put on one episode or let the kiddos watch the entire thing (like when you desperately need to get the house clean). I’m sure your niece (and her parents) would adore you for this purchase.
