We’ve been in our brand new home for about three months now and it still looks like no one lives here (well besides the toys thrown all around.) We have furniture throughout our house, but we have yet to put up a personal effect that makes this “our home.” No pictures, no paintings, nothing. Just sandy brown walls that are screaming for some color.
I keep saying I’ll get to it tomorrow, but it seems like tomorrow never comes.
But just because the inside of my house lacks color and personality, doesn’t mean my back porch does. I recently had the opportunity to go to Sears and purchase a patio set of my choice. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted, I just knew I wanted a space that actually had some color and pizazz.
Since I knew I would be purchasing our new patio set at Sears, I went online to see all the styles they had available. While browsing the selection in the Sears Style Hub, I found some that I really loved. But as you know, there is nothing like seeing it and touching it in person.
In addition to the Style Hub, you can get inspiration and design ideas (like I did) with the Sears Outdoor Catalog. Since I don’t have an ounce of creativity, it helps being able to see how it could look in my own space.
After getting a good idea of what to expect when we arrived at Sears, the kids and I loaded up in the car and headed that way. We went on a Thursday around lunch time and the store wasn’t all that busy so we were able to stroll and look at our leisure. We looked at every single set they had available in the store, which is much less than what is available online. We also looked at accessories to compliment our new outdoor space.
The bistro set pictured above, is the set that I decided to go with. While it isn’t big enough for our whole family, the truth is, the children don’t ever stop to actually sit down. When we are outside, they are running, playing and acting like children. And even if they do slow down, we have a large wooden swing that is big enough for them all.
While I was there, I also purchased two sets of outdoor LED bulb lights to hang around our covered back porch and I also purchased two three-tiered plant holders to help accentuate the already colorful set. With everything that I bought, I spent right at $400 and because I’m a member of the Shop Your Way Rewards Program, I earned $4 from my purchases.
Now that I had everything to create a special place for my husband and I to have a “backyard date night,” courtesy of #SearsPatio, I headed home to start making dinner. Once my husband arrived home from work, he assembled the patio set while I finished up inside. I couldn’t wait to sit out back, just my husband and I, to enjoy a quite dinner.
Once dinner was complete and the patio set was assembled, it was time for date night. We had roast with carrots and potatoes with a nice cold glass of sweet tea.
Just the two us, talking without being interrupted. We need to have date night more often.
The bulb LED lights were a nice touch because as the sun started to go down, the lights gave off a nice ambient light that set the mood. I’m glad I bought another set to string along the top of the porch. They will be great for any type of outdoor entertaining.
We are so excited about our new outdoor space and the serenity that it brings when we are outside, listening to the birds sings, gently gliding back and forth. With the sale on all patio sets, I highly recommend you check out your local ad and see what is available in your area.
