A couple of months ago, while I was visiting Chula Vista with the Kellogg’s team, I had the opportunity to do an exclusive interview with Rita Wieber, mom to Olympic hopeful, Jordyn Wieber.
If you know me at all, you know I’m a pretty shy gal. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. I do fairly good at roundtable interviews, but a one-on-one? I seriously wanted to crawl into a hole and not come back out until it was all over with.
The time before the interview was spent practicing questions in my head and getting my make-up touched up. As I was sitting in the chair, I realized just how real it all was. There were going to be cameras (notice that is plural), other people and Rita Wieber. The whole time I was just thinking that I had to figure out a way to ask Rita my interview questions, in front of all these people and cameras, without getting tongue-tied or completely forgetting the questions.
I can’t say it went perfectly (thank goodness for editing) but overall I felt it went well. I did have my questions in my lap (hey, what’s a girl to do) but I tried not to look down at them. Rita was an absolute sweetheart and did her best to make me feel comfortable.
I’m so thankful to Kellogg’s and Rita Wieber for giving me this opportunity. This job is constantly stretching me and pushing me to do things I wouldn’t normally do and the brands that put their complete trust in me, thank you so much for believing in me!
As we gear up for the Olympics, I wanted to share Jordyn Wieber’s “Start Story.” She is a driven individual and her strength and motivation to be the best she can be, should inspire each and every one of us.
