Up until recently, the car rider line each day picking up the children from school was pretty much a waste of my time. As I would sit there, in my car, bored out of my mind, I would think about all the things online that I could be doing. From writing a post to responding to email, there was always something that needed my attention but since I didn’t have a way to connect to the internet, I was pretty much just out of luck.
But that is not the case anymore now that I have the NetZero 4G Hotspot. If you’ve never heard of a hotspot, it is a portable internet device that gives you access to the world wide web without the worry of public Wi-Fi. The one that I have is compact, can be used with up to 8 devices at one time and has a battery life of up to 6 hours.
When I received the NetZero 4G HotSpot, it immediately went on the charger because I couldn’t wait to use it. The directions said the device was partially charged, but that was not the case for me. It comes with a USB wall charger and that can either be used in your wall outlet or computer. If your battery is running low, it can be charged while it is in use.
The LED screen displays the battery level, signal strength, network indicator, how many devices are using the hotspot, how long the device has been in use and how much data has been transferred.
Connecting to the hotspot once it was charged was really quick and easy and did not require downloading anything to make it work. I simply looked at the available wireless networks, selected the NetZero signal and entered the password when prompted. Within seconds, I was surfing the internet!
Depending on your usage, you can change the speed to either “LightSpeed” or “WarpSpeed”. Once you click SAVE, it will take approximately 15 minutes for the change to take effect. LightSpeed is designed for email and web browsing while WarpSpeed is designed for web browsing, video and speed. If you have a NetZero Free or Basic plan, your plan is defaulted to LightSpeed. All other plans are defaulted to WarpSpeed but customers with any data plan can toggle their speed at their own discretion.
Besides being able to be connected while I’m on-the-go, I love that all NetZero 4G Mobile Broadband plans have no activation fees, no contracts, no commitments and no overage charges. Data plans start at just $9.95 per month and there is even a free service good for one year with the purchase of a NetZero 4G HotSpot or NetZero 4G Stick.

I currently have the Platinum service and have been using it for the past week or so. I’ve been getting more done in the car rider line than ever before and I’m not sure if I could now live without having a hotspot. It’s convenient, it’s portable, but most of all, it’s a solution to a problem. Since my job is internet based, I need access at all times. The NetZero 4G HotSpot provides the access I need.
However, this weekend we went on a road trip to East Texas and I couldn’t get the hotspot to work at all. It seems that if there is not a 4G signal to be found, the device doesn’t work at all. I tried for the whole two and a half hour drive to get it to connect at certain points, but it just wouldn’t connect. As soon as we made our way back to the house, it started working. It seems like the coverage area is fairly limited, so I would make sure that you are in an area where service is available before purchasing.
Overall, I love having the NetZero 4G HotSpot! I’m now productive while waiting in the car rider line, my kids can use their devices on short trips around the area surrounding our home and the two hour wait in line last night to drive through Bethlehem City at a local church wasn’t bad at all. We were all able to access the internet on each of our devices to help pass the time.
