Nestle Happy New School Year! Kickoff Party

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to host a Nestle Happy New School Year Kickoff Party with friends and family.  We had our party at my grandparents house because it was easier for everyone to be able to attend. I’m not sure if you know this or not, but Nestle is a huge supporter of education and more specifically through promoting literacy through the Reading Is Fundamental organization.  I am so honored to have been chosen to help out in bringing awareness to education and literacy through the Reading Is Fundamental program.

We started out our party with some amazing food provided by Nestle.  From some yummy lasagna to hot chocolate chip cookies, everyone enjoyed their lunch.

After we enjoyed our meal, it was time to talk about Reading Is Fundamental and to begin putting the donation stickers on all the books that were going to be donated to the Reading Is Fundamental location of our choice.  Because I know teen pregnancy is very common, it was decided that the books would be donated to a teen pregnancy center at a local school.  On Monday, I’ll be going to the school to drop of all the books.

The children helped us put on the stickers and they even read a couple of the books while they were supposed to be helping.  Ha!

The Nestle Happy New School Year Kickoff Party was an absolute blast and I can’t wait to finish it all off with the book donation on Monday.  I’ve talked to the teen pregnancy program at the school and they seem excited and I’ll be able to meet the children when I drop off the books. I’ll be taking pictures and reporting back about the experience.

Nestle provided materials for the party and also provided the books for donation. I received a gift card for my participation.

That is a great party idea! Did guests bring books to donate, or was it all supplied by Nestle?

That would be fun to combine with a book swap/share for the guests.

What a great idea for a small group to start off something like that and then all of the states to start that. Then there would not be a problem with literacy or children not learning to read.
